New Delhi, Lifestyle Desk. Zika Virus History: Zika virus is one of the diseases caused by mosquitoes. Which is considered very dangerous. It usually takes 3 to 12 days to show signs of this disease. The Zika virus was discovered when some scientists from the East African Viral Research Institute were doing research. This research was done by caging Rhesus macaques (a kind of langur) in the forest of Zika. Later, during the research itself, the monkey got fever and in the year 1952 its infectious component was named Zika virus.
After this, in the year 1954, a human was found infected with this virus in Nigeria. It did not get much attention. Cases were then reported in Africa and South East Asia, although the number of cases was quite small. After this, in the year 2007, attention was given to this dangerous virus. At this time, its impact was seen on Africa for the first time and the risk of the virus increased outside of Asia. Yap Island exists in the country of the Federated State of Micronesia, located in the Pacific Ocean. Here some people showed symptoms of Zika virus, which was believed to be dengue and chikungunya.
Zika virus has spread in 86 countries
These symptoms included rash and joint pain. When these people were examined, RNA of Zika virus was found in the blood. In 2013 there was a significant outbreak of Zika virus infection in French Polynesia and other countries of the Pacific. After this, Zika virus cases were confirmed in the Pacific Ocean in the year 2014 to French Polynesia and then in 2015 in Mexico, Central Africa. Then in the same year (2015) in March, a rash disease was also seen in Brazil. Which was identified as Zika virus infection. In the same year it was found to be associated with Guillab Barre syndrome. According to the data, till date there has been evidence of outbreak of Zika infection in a total of 86 countries and regions.

It is also said that the Zika virus was first found in Uganda in the year 1940. After which it rapidly spread to the rest of Africa. After some countries in the South Pacific and Asia, it reached Latin America. There was also considerable study on the spread of the virus in Brazil. Then the scientists said that this virus may have come from Asia and South Pacific during the 2014 Football World Cup. However, this claim has not been confirmed till date.
