World Coconut Day: Learn some special things related to the coconut used in everything from worship to food

Know about this fruit associated with taste health and culture for centuries, full of medicinal properties on World Coconut Day (2 September).

Coconut is a versatile tree. It is mainly used for eating fruits and in oil foods and medicinal form. At the same time, its fibers, leaves, broom, mat, rope, roof, sofa, chair cushion, brush etc. are made. Its fruit is considered a symbol of our culture. The tradition of offering shrifal in worship, respect, greetings has been going on since Vedic period. It is also called Shrifal in Sanskrit, Nariyar in Gujarati, Narikel in Bangla, Naral in Marathi and Khupar in Kashmiri. Description in Puranas

According to the legend, Vishwamitra, who became angry with the Gods and became Brahmarshi from Rajarshi, himself started the creation of the universe. Their head is made of coconut. Humans have two eyes in Brahma’s creation, while Vishwamitra had created three eyes in his human creation, hence coconut has three eye-shaped symbols. This is the reason why coconut is also called Trinetra.

Some people believe that this multivariate and monocot plant is originally a tree on the beaches of New Zealand, which later reached other countries including India. It grows easily in tropical climates. In India, it is found in Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Bengal and Andaman-Nicobar etc. The state of Kerala is at the forefront of coconut production in India.

The outer shell of the coconut fruit is thick and fibrous, which is covered with a hard cover. The raw (green) fruit of coconut is called ‘Dabha’. On cutting, it gives sweet water, which is very beneficial. Its raw fat is also eaten. The guri inside the ripe coconut has an important place from Havan-poojan to Panch Mao. Poor oil provides coolness to the head and prevents hair from infection of dandruff. Its oil is used in various foods like vegetable oil. It is also useful in making sweets, chocolate, pudding, curry, chutney, cakes, pastries etc.

Helpful in increasing immunity

Raj. It is said that radium and cobalt are found in coconut, that is why cancer patients are advised to include poori or coconut water in the diet. Apart from this, it is very beneficial in diseases like heart, liver, kidney, mouth ulcers etc. It is also very helpful in strengthening immunity. It contains water, protein, fat, mineral elements, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and abundant vitamin-C.

Coconut water full of qualities

In coastal areas, people have been using coconut for years for food and beauty. Every part of coconut is beneficial in one way or the other, but there are some elements in coconut water which the body needs the most. A coconut contains about 200 ml of water.

It is sweet and refreshing in taste. Antioxidants, amino-acids, enzymes, B-complex, vitamin-C and major salts are found in plenty along with very few calories in its water. On lack of water in the body or decreased blood fluidity, coastal people adopt coconut water as a domestic medicine. Physicians also recommend drinking ORS solution or coconut water in case of diarrhea, vomiting or diarrhea.

Home remedies are miraculous

The oil extracted from dried coconut has a great medicinal value. Its massage makes the skin radiant and by using it in the hair, the problem of dandruff and fungus is relieved. It is forbidden to drink normal water in a thirst due to fever. In such a situation, burn coconut coats and put it in hot water. When this water cools down, filter and feed the patient. It does not harm fever and also quenches thirst.
