Injured Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been fit to return to the field while playing in the Indian Premier League. The star opener of the Indian cricket team was not selected in the team going to Australia due to injury. The Indian team is going to tour this month after the IPL is over. BCCI’s Akshay Sourav Ganguly had already said that if Rohit returns to the field after getting fit, the selectors may decide to include him in the team.
Ever since the selection of the Indian cricket team going on tour to Australia, there was constant discussion about how serious Rohit Sharma’s injury is. There were constant indications from Mumbai Indians that Rohit’s injury was not so serious that he should not be included in any of the formats played on the tour of Australia. On Tuesday (November 3), Rohit played the last league match of IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad, after which there was talk of selection in his team.
Speaking to an English website, Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had said a day earlier that if Rohit Sharma managed to come back fit, he would be considered for a tour to Australia. Ganguly had said, “If we talk about Rohit, we all want him to be fit for the tour of Australia. If he is fit at the moment, I am sure that the selectors will definitely reconsider his place.”
Will Rohit go on tour to Australia?
Now that the BCCI boss has made it clear that Rohit can go to Australia after regaining fitness, the selectors will also have to pay attention to it. It is hoped that if Rohit manages to prove his fitness even in further matches of the tournament, he can be given a place in the team going to Australia.
