Will the Quad break the relations between China and Bangladesh
China has recently given an open warning to Bangladesh about joining the Quad, a four-nation security group led by the US. On this warning of China, experts in the Indian sub-continent are expressing surprise.
In fact, China’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Li Jiming, during a meeting with journalists, had threatened Bangladesh in a very aggressive manner. This method is the main reason for shrinking people’s nose and eyebrows. People are puzzled as to what is the reason for giving diplomatic warnings in the meeting with journalists.
But it would not be right to say that China suddenly issued a warning to Bangladesh. China is constantly monitoring how America is uniting its allies in Asia. Quad has become a new reason for his interest in this matter.
In the past, China has been expressing its concerns about America’s role in the world through diplomatic channels and media. China’s official newspaper Global Times quoted Li Jiming as saying that the US is trying to create a rift between China and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momin described the Chinese ambassador’s statement as “regrettable” and said that Bangladesh “makes its own foreign policy, although each country is free to assert its stand on any subject”.
What is the reason for this aggressive attitude of China?
The Chinese ambassador made this statement on May 10. In which he said that ‘if Bangladesh becomes part of the Quad, then its relations with China will suffer a lot. This statement had taken the government of Bangladesh and its media by surprise.
Bangladesh’s famous English newspaper, The Daily Star, wrote an editorial on 12 May with very harsh words. In this editorial, the newspaper wrote that ‘It seems that China is worried that Bangladesh will become part of the Quad initiative. We do not know what is the reason for this. Whatever be the cause of China’s troubles, but there should be no doubt that any decision in this regard can be taken only by the Government of Bangladesh.
Before this, China had always avoided refusing to directly allow Bangladesh to join the Quad. But, the tension in the relations between the two countries was increasing for a long time.
