The Republican Party has been divided into a pro and anti camp after the attack on President Donald Trump’s supporters in the US Capitol Building. According to the news agency Reuters, it has been revealed in the new poll that this will harm the party.
In the House of Representatives, the lower house of America, 10 Republican Party MPs have supported the impeachment motion against Trump. President Trump is alleged to have provoked supporters through his speech and attacked the US Capitol Building on January 6.
This attack took place when the meeting of the US Congress was going on there. The formal victory of the newly elected US President Joe Biden was to be confirmed at this meeting.
The impeachment motion against Trump in the Democratic Party’s majority House of Representatives has passed 232-197. However, impeachment against Trump has been brought for the second time in this term when his term ends on January 20.
Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in the Senate has rejected the demand for an immediate impeachment trial. He has said that there is no way to complete the impeachment process before Trump leaves office.
But Trump will leave the White House on January 20, and even if he is found guilty of impeachment in the Senate, he may be banned from re-joining the next election.
The Senate can also vote in this trial on whether Trump can never participate in the race to become President again. Trump has indicated that he will campaign for the presidency in 2024.
America’s newly elected President Joe Biden has said that during his tenure, both the impeachment process and the legislature’s priorities in the Senate should go together, so that no work is left out for any reason.
Biden says that the government’s work should not stop due to the process of impeachment. That is, even after Biden came to power, the process of impeachment against Trump will go on.Biden has said that a path has to be found to pursue both. Biden said, “I hope the Senate Leadership will find a way to carry forward the constitutional responsibility of impeachment and the functioning of the us government together.” Trump has not yet given up in the election.
Prior to the attack on Capitol Hill, Trump had addressed his supporters, saying, “Electoral victory has been stolen from us and it has to be withdrawn.” We need to show strength. We will have to fight and fight in a very different way. ”
Trump is no more President 10 MPs of the Republican Party voted in favor of the impeachment motion. His names are Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, John Katko, Anthony Gonzalez, Tom Rice, Dan Newhouse, Gem Herrera Butler, Fred Upton, David Valadao, Peter Mizer.
Adam Kinzinger tweeted, “Today was a comforting moment for me to vote in favor of impeachment, go to Parliament House, a symbol of our democracy, and remember the violent rebellion we all saw here just a week ago. I did not take the vote lightly, but I cast this vote with great confidence. I feel peace in myself. “
