Notable work in the field of Science
Kanury Rao has dedicated his life to the field of Science. He has done many kinds of research for the better of humankind. He has recently developed a novel technology for early cancer detection in women with his fellow team. With his new research, many institutions expect to reduce the number of patients with cancer and increase the life expectancy of people who die due to cancer. He led a group that discovered a novel subset of IgD receptors on ‘naive’ B lymphocytes, which helped in a wider understanding of antigen-specific B cell selection and amplification. He has worked on designing new synthetic peptide vaccines for Hepatitis B, which were reported to generate high immunogenicity in humans. People also know him for his studies in peptide synthesis and cell signaling and the design of synthetic peptide vaccines.
Awards and Honours
Dr Rao has worked hard to become an immunologist and has done much notable work to achieve big goals in his life. In 1993 Dr. Kanury Venkata Subba Rao won the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize by The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 1997, and he received the National Bioscience Award for Career Development in 1999. In 2000, The Indian National Science Academy elected him as a fellow; the same year, Rao achieved the Millennium Plaque of Honour of the Indian Science Congress. He was also a recipient of the Ranbaxy Research Award in 2001.
To recapitulate everything stated, Dr. Kanury Rao is one of the most known immunologists and the most prominent scientist discovering early cancer detection in women. His contribution to biology has helped humankind, and he said he would continue to work more to bring evolution to human life.
