WHO gave a new name to the corona variant found in various countries

As such, you have definitely read about Alpha, Delta, Beta Gamma during science studies. But, the alpha, delta, beta, and gamma we are talking about here are quite different from them. They are different because they are such mutants or types and sub-types of coronavirus that are bothering many countries of the world. These mutants have also become the cause of death of many humans. The World Health Organization has recently named other types of coronavirus.

Corona variant

These mutants of the virus were found in different countries. For example, the type of corona that was detected for the first time in India was B.1.167.2. It is one of the first three subtypes found in India. It was found in India in October 2020. So far this train has been found in about 53 countries of the world. World Health has described it as very dangerous. Similarly, B. 1.617.1 will now be known as Kappa.

Similarly, the variant B.1.1.7 of Corona found in Britain has been named Alpha by the organization. The first-ever variant B1.351 found in South Africa is named beta by WHO, while the P1 strain found in Brazil is called gamma. The strain was first met in November 2020. Strains found in the US have been described as epsilon and iota.

According to the organization, this strain is more lethal and infectious than the other strains found so far. These variants have been named by the World Health Organization at a time when the central government objected to the first found variant in India as it was being referred to as an Indian variant in the report. After India’s objection, WHO had clarified that it does not name any variant after any country. The organization’s technical head, Doctor Maria Wayne Karkhov, says that even after the naming of the variant, its scientific name will not be changed. This is because their specialty is hidden in this name and the key information of the virus is known only by it. The same name will also be used during research.
