On Republic Day, the peasant leaders had asked the Delhi Police to allow a peaceful tractor parade. But within hours of the parade commencing, violent photographs emerged from different borders.
The allegation is that on the day of Republic Day, the farmers who wanted to convey the voice of the people or the group to the people sitting in the system or government, that voice got suppressed and the mob system came to dominate.
As soon as the news of violence began to appear in the media, farmer leaders started to appeal one after the other.
First Yogendra Yadav put his video appeal on Twitter, then came the statement of Rakesh Tikait of Bhartiya Kisan Union
In the evening, a statement from the United Farmers Front issued an order to stop the tractor parade with immediate effect and appealed to the participants to return to their picket sites immediately.
The chronology of the entire incident was also explained by tweeting from the Kisan Ekta Morcha Twitter handle.
According to Delhi Police, all the ruckus started when the farmers refused to take out the tractor parade on the fixed route and started taking out the parade on the new route.
BBC correspondents posted on different borders of Delhi have also confirmed this in their report sent by chance.
BBC correspondent Salman Ravi was present in Ghazipur when the farmers were marching towards Akshardham breaking the barricade.
BBC Hindi’s associate journalist Samiratmaj Mishra posted on the Tikari border told that when the farmers reached Nangloi, some farmers wanted to go directly to Piragadhi but the Delhi Police was asking them to go on the right track. Later some farmers set out on the fixed route, then some towards Piragadhi.
Farmer leader Yogendra Yadav has also accepted this in a message posted on Facebook.
He said, “The tractor parade received an unprecedented response. But contrary to the agreement of the Joint Kisan Morcha with the police, some farmers broke the route and went on a different route, causing disturbances in the movement. Some farmers on the Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur border The agreement with the police was not accepted. They overtook Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar on the Singhu border. The Tikari border was not allowed to go towards Piragadhi. But some farmers did not listen to the police. Likewise from Ghazipur border Going to Akshardham and ITO was not a part of the proposed route. Police were attacked. Farmers and soldiers were face to face. “
In such a situation, the question arises that what happened after all that the farmers did not listen to their leaders.
Were the farmer leaders not present to lead the tractor parade on the occasion?
The BBC asked the farmer leader Yogendra Yadav the same question.
He replied, “My own duty was on the Shahjahanpur border. I was posted there on duty and everything was peaceful there.”
On the deployment of farmer leaders on the remaining border, he said that all the prominent leaders had to remain on the Singhu border. Dr. Darshan Pal of Revolutionary Farmers Union, Jagmohan Singh of Bhartiya Kisan Union, Dakoda, Balbir Singh Rajewal of Bhartiya Kisan Union were to lead the parade on the Singhu border.
