The world’s cheapest metro service will start in Kolkata. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will inaugurate this metro service on 13 February and will be opened to the general public from 14 February. It will be the cheapest metro service of the entire country, even the world, from one station to another The fare will be only 5 rupees. It will also have a variety of passenger amenities. It will be the cheapest metro service as compared to any metro service. It will have modern facilities like a platform screen door and detection system . Metro Railway says that soon the service will increase to 12 kilometers for the people of Kolkata.
With this, another chapter will be added in the history of Kolkata city. In the first phase, a 6-km long line is going to be started . After completion of construction of the second phase, this metro service will travel 15 kilometers between Salt Sector 5 to Howrah Maidan.
Minimum rent of five and maximum 30 rupees
According to the table, passengers will have to pay Rs 5 for up to 2 km, Rs 10 for 5 km, Rs 20 for 10 km and Rs 30 for up to 16.5 km. Kolkata created history by launching the country’s first metro service in the 20th century . Now the cycle will continue in the 21st century . The first metro rail service in Kolkata started in 1984. Kolkata East-West Metro will be the second metro service in this city . The construction of the first face has been completed which is being commissioned for the people of Kolkata today. Kolkata city is in dire need of more transport system and Kolkata will greatly benefit from this metro transport system. This metro line will connect Sealdah to Howrah with some major stations in the city. Sealdah station is estimated to have about 1.5 million passengers a day, with Howrah likely to be slightly less crowded.

In the first phase, the first metro will run between Saltlake Sector Five to Saltlake Stadium for 5.3 km. The automated state-of-the-art metro rack will currently be run by Motorman.
Till now it took about one and a half hours to cover the above distance by road, but this journey will be completed in a total of 13 minutes with the start of metro. It is a new state-of-the-art metro with six coaches. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Babul Supriyo, Bengal Fire and Emergency Services (Independent Charge) and Forest Minister Sujit Basu, MP Kakli Ghosh Dastidar and Mayor of Legislature Krishna Chakraborty will be present in the program.
Metro train will run between six stations
According to sources, a total of 5.3 km from Sector 5 to Saltlake Stadium was completed in the first phase under the East West Metro project last year. Subsequently, CRS inspected the metro station Sector-5, Karunamayi, Central Park, City Center, Bengal Chemical, Saltlake Stadium stations prepared in the first phase and looked at other technical nuances including passenger safety, convenience. After inspection, CRS had set the deadline for the inauguration by 30 November, but the inaugural event was postponed due to political interference and technical problems.
Passengers will get East West Metro service from 8 am to 8 pm. Initially trains will run in intervals of 20 minutes. It will be decided to run trains in short time distance as passenger numbers increase. At the moment, the automatic state-of-the-art rack will be run by the motorman. For this, they have been given special training.
In the coming days, trains will be run without motormen. With the commencement of the first phase, the distance of 5.3 km to be covered in one and a half hours by road will be completed in a total of 13 minutes. On the other hand, preparations for starting the metro service from Saltlake Stadium to Phulbagan have also been started vigorously.
