India became the first winner of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup by defeating England by seven wickets in the Sunday final played at Potchefstroom.

India's captain Shafali Verma broke down in tears following their victory in the ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup.

Shafali Verma had a smile on her face as she arrived for the presenting ceremony, but she was overcome by emotion.

She could not conceal the tears that were always protruding from her eyes while grinning. Shafali was given time by the anchor who was hosting the event.

In the history of Indian women's cricket, this trophy holds a great deal of significance. India became the first nation to win the World Cup trophy in women's cricket.

The senior women's team has previously advanced to the World Cup finals on multiple occasions but has never taken home the trophy.

In addition to congratulating the Indian team on making history, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that the players and support staff would get prize money of Rs 5 crore.
