The monsoon has become active again due to the low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the next two days in Odisha. Not only this, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in South Bengal during the next 48 hours.

During this period Kolkata will have moderate to high speed while eight districts of South Bengal may receive heavy rains. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of continuous rain in most parts of Delhi for the next six days.

In Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat, the number of deaths has increased to 200 as relief and rescue operations continue. Officials said that more than 12 lakh people are still in the grip of floods. 80 tehsils of 70 districts in Karnataka are affected by the floods. The state government has put the death toll at 48 while 12 people are still missing. The death toll in Maharashtra has risen to 43 and 4.48 lakh people have been evacuated to safer places. 761 villages in the state are affected by the floods.

The death toll from the floods in Kerala rose to 76 on Monday. About 2.87 lakh people have taken shelter in relief camps in the state. Officials said 50 people are still missing in Malapuram. The Air Force has rescued 125 people stranded on the road in Kutch district of Gujarat.

Vigilance is being exercised in flood affected states. Most of the rivers are flowing and the reservoirs are beyond the danger mark. On Monday, three villages of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district were rainy. Here six people were buried alive in the debris due to cloudburst, celestial lightning and landslides.
