Vaccine availability will increase in the country, India is talking to American enterprises on the purchase of vaccines
India said on Thursday that it is in talks with US enterprises about the purchase of anti-Covid-19 vaccines and the possibility of later production in the country. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi gave this information at a press conference.
Discussions are being held with US enterprises about the purchase of the vaccine and later its production in India. Once vaccines are procured through procurement or production, then this will strengthen the status of vaccine availability in the country.
Bagchi said, “We are in talks with US enterprises about the purchase of the vaccine and the possibility of its production in India later.” He said that once vaccines are procured through purchase or production, then this will strengthen the status of vaccine availability in the country.
“We have seen reports in which the US government has assured to provide some amount of vaccines to other countries,” Bagchi said. He said, whatever vaccines will be purchased from abroad, they need to be under our regulatory guidelines. As far as we are aware, the US has also indicated that the vaccines sent by it to other countries will be in accordance with the Federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval on product quality.
In response to another question, Bagchi said that a large number of countries have shown solidarity towards India in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. He said that about 40 countries have sent medical equipment and other supplies to India.
