A case has come to light of a research scientist of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) getting a honeytrap and demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. Sector-49 Kotwali police have arrested three people including a young woman in the case. The arrested accused are under questioning. At the same time, many accused absconding in the case are also being told. Police is searching for them.
He lives in a society located in Sector-77 in Noida with a family of scientists working in DRDO, Delhi. At around 7 pm on Saturday evening, the wife left the house without telling her and reached the city center in Sector-32. A car arrived to pick him up, in which he reached a hotel in Sector-41. Here, a young woman took them hostage on the pretext of friendship and got into a honeytrap and started threatening her.
Demanding Rs 10 lakh was demanded from the scientist by showing fear of being implicated in false trial. Scientist was beaten up for not giving money. The woman approached the scientist’s wife for the ransom money. Videos of the assault and false cases were sent to WhatsApp mobile number of the scientist’s wife. Troubled by the scientist being trapped in the honeytrap, the wife reported the matter to the police at Sector-49 Kotwali at around 7 am Sunday. The police immediately started investigating the case. Tracing the scientist’s phone at around seven in the evening, the police reached a hotel in Sector-41. Here the scientist was taken hostage by the woman along with her two friends.
The police sent the scientist home after releasing the clutches of the accused. At the same time, the accused has been arrested and started questioning. Additional DCP Noida Rannvijay Singh said that in the initial investigation, the case appeared to be of honeytrap. Information is being collected from the arrested accused.
