Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

If you are using an Android phone, then it may have happened many times that the app has asked for a data permit from you. This permission is sought so that you can choose which data will be accessed by the app. Now, a group of Researchers has released that there are many applications even after not obtaining data permissions, which have access to many information including user location. Read this post about to know about this post:

More than 1,000 apps without permissions Data Mining: Android Data Permission prevents developers from accessing the data, whose permissions have not been given to users. However, according to CNET’s report, a research team from the International Computer Science Institute told that there are 1325 applications that are bypassing these restrictions. This information comes after studying 88,000 apps and after tracking it, how is it extracting personal data without access.

First method: Using photo Geo-location

According to the researchers, some flagged apps are using photo metadata, Geo-location to track the users. Shutterfly, the popular-photo editing app, has been found using this method. By extracting GPS user coordinates from photos, it transmits data to its servers. However, the company has incorrectly stated this claim and said that they do not collect any data illegally.

Second way: using second app to collect data

Some apps collect permissions information without using other programs built on similar software development kits. These apps take information from apps that have access to data access.

Third Way: Use of Wi-Fi Network for Location

In this way, your networking chip and routers, wireless access points, SSID etc. are extracted by extending the MAC address. Researchers will release more details about these 1325 programs in the coming time.
