A top scientific advisor to the government warned on Wednesday that we should be prepared for new waves of corona virus epidemic. The Principal Scientific Advisor of the Center K.K. Vijayaraghavan said, “Phase three is certain, but given the high level of circulating virus, it is not clear at what time phase three will come. We should be ready for new waves. ”

Vijayaraghavan said, “New variants will be born all over the world and also in India, but the variants that increase transmission are likely to be stable. Immune avoidant variants and those that reduce or increase the severity of the disease will progress further. ”

Further, he said, “Scientists from India and all over the world are working on forecasting such variants, taking fast steps against them and developing modified tools.” This is an intensive research program, which is taking place in India and abroad.

NITI Aayog member (Health) VK Paul said about COVID-19, “This disease is not spread by animals. This is a transmission between humans and humans. ”

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday that more than 16 crore doses of vaccine have been given since the beginning of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in India. It has taken 109 days to achieve this ‘achievement’. Compared to India, America has taken 111 days to do this work while China has taken 116 days.

The Ministry informed that in 12 states and union territories of the country, the campaign to give COVID-19 vaccine to people aged 18-44 years has started, under which 671285 beneficiaries of this age group have taken the first dose of the vaccine. Huh.

According to the data released by the ministry, a total of 160494188 doses of corona vaccine have been given so far in the country. There are 9462505 health workers who have taken the first dose of the vaccine while 6322055 health workers have taken both the vaccine doses. At the same time, 13565728 employees posted on the advance front have taken the first dose of the vaccine while 7332999 employees have taken both the vaccine doses.

On May 4, the 109th day of the Corona vaccination campaign, 14,84,989 people were vaccinated. Of these, 780066 people were given the first dose and 704923 people were given the second dose.
