These 4 things you should know before you close your credit card, you will be benefited

Read Time:1 Minute, 44 Second

Recently, the use of credit cards has become common at the moment. If seen, credit card has become the most common form of payment in urban areas. Customers can shop offline or online through credit card. Credit cards are easily available. Using multiple credit cards simultaneously gets people stuck in high interest. If you are also using more than one credit card and want to close any of them, you can close it by calling customer care or by putting online request.

Do this work before closing the credit card

Pay the dues : When you are closing your credit card, first of all check that there is no outstanding on it, if it is, then pay it first. You cannot close it with arrears. Your credit score will deteriorate due to interest and late payment due to any pending charges. If there is an existing EMI / loan on the credit card, then you should pay additional charges at a time on the outstanding balance before closing the card.

Credit Utilization Ratio : It is important to know about Credit Utilization Ratio (CUR) at the time of credit card closure. Actually, CUR is the percentage of available credit that you are spending. A high CUR can damage your credit score. Your CUR should ideally be in the 20-30% range. So remember this work before closing your credit card account.

Reward Points : Be sure to redeem your old Reward Points before closing any credit card account. Most credit card companies offer reward points on transactions made through credit cards, which can be redeemed through cashback, discounts, coupons. Make sure you have redeemed it before closing your card.

Follow-up : Bank employees have multiple tasks at once, so it can be delayed several times if you put a closure request. Because of this, you keep taking follow up. Contact your bank and ensure that the credit card is canceled by the bank and no transactions are being done with the card. Do not forget to get your no-deuse certificate from the bank.
