After a 47-day-long journey, on Saturday, September 7, 2019, when Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram lander was just 2.1 km from the moon’s surface, he lost contact with the Bangalore Center of the Indian Space Research Organization.

The truth of the viral photo
The reverse image search shows that the image is shared as ‘thermal image of Vikram Lander taken by Indian orbiter’ is actually a picture of the mission ‘Apollo-16’ of the US space agency NASA.

According to this feature story, it is a picture of the Apollo-16 landing site.
NASA’s ‘Apollo-16’ lunar landing mission was launched on 16 April 1972 at 12 54 minutes from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.
It was the vehicle of a NASA crew to land on the moon. The crew of three men was led by Commander John W. Young.
During NASA’s Apollo-16 mission, the three astronauts spent a total of 71 hours, two minutes on the moon.
During this time, astronauts walked the moon in three separate steps in 20 hours, 14 minutes. This mission of NASA, which lasted for 11 days, was completed on 27 April 1972.
Fake accounts of ISRO and K Sivan
In the last few days on social media (especially Twitter), several fake accounts have been created in the name of Sivan of Indian Space Agency and ISRO chief, with whom it is claimed that they are his official account.
But the Indian Space Research Organization has clarified that all these profiles and accounts are fake.
According to the latest update published on ISRO’s official website, K Sivan does not have any personal account on social media. Do not trust the information given by fake accounts containing their pictures.
