The US military base in Kirkuk, a remote Iraq region, was attacked by rockets on Thursday night. However, no casualties were reported. Iraqi and US security sources say this is the first attack on a K-1 base since December 27.
30 rockets were fired on 27 December
On December 27, 30 consecutive rockets were fired and an American contractor was killed in it. The US accused Katib Hezbollah of this attack. Qatib Hezbollah is a faction of the Iraqi army that is believed to be close to Iran. After this, the US, in retaliation, killed 25 fighters of Qatib Hezbollah. He then killed Qasim Sulemani, the military general of Iran.
Attacks are not stopping after all the warnings
Despite all the warnings of the US, attacks on its bases in Iraq have not stopped. A few days ago, several rockets were fired near the US Embassy in Baghdad. The sounds of the blasts were heard from the western bank of the Tigris River where the embassies of several countries were located. The security source said that three high-altitude rockets fell in the high-security zone, while another source said that five rockets in the area were attacked by Katyusha rockets.
Significantly, only last month, the US targeted General Suleimani with his MQ-9 Reaper drone when his convoy was moving to Baghdad. After the General’s assassination, a war-like situation had arisen between Iran and America. Iran targeted two US military bases in Iraq in retaliation and threatened to target Dubai and Israel’s Hafia in the United Arab Emirates on receiving a response from the US
