T20 World Cup: Pakistan beat West Indies by 8 wickets
Pakistan defeated the West Indies by eight wickets in their first match of Group B in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan defeated the West Indies by eight wickets in their first Group B match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup played at the Manuka Oval ground on Wednesday. This is Pakistan’s first win in the tournament thanks to the best innings of captain Bismah Maroof (38 not out) and Jawaria Khan (35). Pakistan is second in Group B with two digits. This is the first defeat in two matches of the West Indies and the team is at number four with two points.
Batting first after winning the toss, former champions West Indies scored 124 runs for seven wickets, which Pakistan achieved by losing two wickets with 10 balls to spare.
For Pakistan, Maroof hit four fours off 37 balls and Zaveria hit six fours in 28 balls. Apart from them, Muniba Ali contributed 25 and Nida Dar contributed 18 not out. Javeria received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding batting.
For West Indies, Effie Fletcher and captain Stephanie Taylor got one wicket each. Earlier, the West Indies team could only manage 124 runs for seven wickets. Captain Taylor and Shemani Campbell made 43–43 runs for the team. Apart from him, Lee Ann Kibi contributed 16 runs. For Pakistan, Aman Anwar, Nida Dar and Dino Bag bagged two while Anam Amin took one wicket.
