New Delhi (Business Desk) SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh said in an interview on Sunday that after the shutting down of Jet Airways, he has so far employed around 1,100 employees. Hope this number can increase to 2,000. The new appointment will include most pilots, cabin crew, airport services and security people. Ajay Singh has been appointed as the board member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Sunday.
Annual General Meeting of IATA ends on Sunday. The leader of the new board of governors, Lufthansa Group’s CEO, Keratin Spor has been selected. SpiceJet said in a statement that Ajay Singh has been appointed on the board for three years. IATA includes more than 290 aviation companies worldwide. In March this year SpiceJet became the first Indian economical airline to join the group.
SpiceJet said on Sunday that from July 1, he will start flying on the Guwahati-Dhaka-Guwahati route. This will be the first flight under the ‘Flying International’ scheme. The company also said that it will start 14 new direct flights connecting metro and non metro cities on domestic routes from June 20.
