This is how the fight started

The battle began in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region was then officially declared independent. So far, 30 thousand people have lost their lives in the battle of both countries and thousands of people have become homeless.

By 1993, Armenia had not only taken control of Nagorno-Karabakh, but had also captured 20 percent of Azerbaijan.
