Sleeping Cells Prevent Cancer: These Cells Formed In The Body Prevent Cancer.

Read Time:1 Minute, 38 Second

The growing age of humans prevents cancer. Special cells that are produced in the body in old age prevent the spread of cancer. This claim has been made by scientists in a study. The study published in the journal ‘Aging Cells’ states that every cell in the human body is meant to perform a specific function. Only a few genes are required to activate these cells.

Teams of international scientists, including researchers from Liverpool University in Britain, reported that gene expression (the process in which genes are activated to produce a particular type of protein) is often used to separately study cancer and aging. goes. However, few studies have examined the relationship between gene expression, increasing age, and cancer. In their study, researchers compared gene expression in nine human tissues to cases of increasing age and cancer.

Sleeping cells’

Researchers report that genetic mutations increase cells in an uncontrolled way, causing cancer. A healthy cell divides in a controlled manner in the body, but when it starts to grow in an uncontrolled way, the risk of cancer increases. In this case, many cells sense this condition and fall asleep. It is senescent or ‘sleeping cells’ and loses its ability to divide.

Protein required for cancer

Scientists reported that the number of these sleeping cells increases with aging. Which is caused by age related processes and diseases. These cells prove to be a major barrier to the spread of cancer. They do not provide the necessary protein to the tumor, thereby stopping its spread. In their study, researchers found that as the age increases, the number of these sleeping cells also increases. Cancer requires the necessary proteins and healthy cells to spread.

Researchers said they challenged traditional approaches in their study about the link between cancer and aging, and suggested that increasing age prevents cancer. He told that two forces in the body work opposite to each other, mutation increases cancer, while sleeping cells stop its expansion.
