Eight Pakistanis have been arrested for forcibly converting a Sikh girl in Pakistan. According to the news agency ANI, Punjab’s Nankana Sahib police has handed over the victim Sikh girl to her family members. Yesterday, the family of the victim’s Sikh girl pleaded for help from Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Let me tell you that the daughter of a Sikh scripture was forcibly converted to Islam near Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan came to consciousness 24 hours after this incident came to the media. Sardar Osman Bujdar, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, ordered an inquiry into the matter. The Sikh community in India became angry after this incident. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DSGPC) protested over the incident.
Sources said that the Mohammed Hassan from whom the Sikh girl was victimized is a member of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, an organization of Hafiz Saeed, the perpetrator of the Mumbai attacks. The girl’s father is the head writer at Gurdwara Tambu Sahib of Nankana Sahib. In his complaint, he said that on the night of August 27, his 19-year-old daughter Jagjit Kaur was abducted by armed men entering the house.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Manjinder S. Sirsa on Thursday shared a video in which the victim’s family alleged that the girl was forcibly converted by threatening her. The family said the girl was threatened if her father and brother would be abused if she did not do so. Meanwhile, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had described the incident as shameful and said that friends of Imran Khan who are in other parties in Punjab should ask them to end such things.
