Scientists claim Ozone Layer hole over Arctic is fine

The largest hole in the ozone layer above the Arctic is closed due to unusual atmospheric conditions. According to the report, the hole was first identified by scientists in March this year. The development was confirmed by the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). The official Twitter handle of Copernicus ECMWW tweeted that the 2020 Northern Hemisphere ozone hole has ended.

The ozone layer is a region in the Earth’s mantle that dissipates the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Which are harmful and cause many skin related diseases including skin cancer. In the 1970s, scientists found that the ozone layer was being depleted by man-made activities, posing a threat to life on Earth.

In March, scientists saw signs of a hole forming in the ozone layer above the North Pole and thought it to be a result of low temperatures. It is believed to be the largest hole in the ozone layer, and may pose a major threat to the south.

However, scientists have confirmed that a 1 million square kilometer wide hole in the ozone layer has healed. He stated that the hole is not closed due to low levels of pollution during coronovirus lockdown. It is believed that the polar vortex, high-altitude currents that bring cold air to the polar regions, is why this layer is cured.

Scientists have clearly stated that the lockdown implemented in most countries of the world to prevent corona virus (COVID-19) infection has not affected it. Rather, polarity is the main reason behind its recovery.
