Runs against NZ, now Rahul reaches this number in ICC rankings
Information wicketkeeper-batsman Lokesh Rahul, who rained runs in the five-match T20 International series against New Zealand, has gained a lot in the ICC’s latest T20 rankings.
Lokesh Rahul scored a total of 224 runs in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand and won the ‘Man of the Series’ award. Rahul scored 56, unbeaten 57, 27, 39 and 45 runs in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand. During this period, Rahul broke the record of the highest score in the bilateral T20I series by Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Lokesh Rahul has reached the second position in the list of world’s best T20 batsmen in the ICC T20 rankings released on Monday. In this list, Pakistan batsman Babar Azam remains on top.
In addition to playing the role of wicketkeeper in this series against New Zealand, Rahul played an important role in winning the team 5–0 with two half-centuries.
Rohit Sharma has reached number ten in ICC T20 rankings. Captain Virat Kohli is at ninth position. Other Indian batsmen were Shreyas Iyer (55th with a 63rd position improvement) and Manish Pandey (58th with an improvement of 12th place) were also successful in improving the fresh rankings.
In the bowlers’ rankings, Jasprit Bumrah rose to 11th position with an improvement of 26 places. Yuzvendra Chahal climbed 10 places to reach the 30th position. Shardul Thakur, who took eight wickets in the series, improved 34 places and is now ranked 57.
There was also a big improvement in the rankings of Navdeep Saini (71 places with 25 places improvement) and Ravindra Jadeja (76 places with 34 places improvement).
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson scored 160 runs in the series, taking his ranking from 23rd to 16th. In the batsmen’s list, Tim Seifert (73rd to 34th) and Ross Taylor (50th to 39th) also improved their rankings. In the bowlers’ list, Ish Sodhi of leg-spinner improved by six places to reach 13th position.
