Prior to taking over, Rajnath paid tribute to the martyrs visiting the National War Memorial in Delhi. After this he asked the three Chiefs of the Army to prepare separate reports on the challenges and functioning of their forces. It will be reviewed shortly in a meeting.
In Siachen, Modi had celebrated Dussehra by Diwali and Sitharaman. In the
previous Modi government, Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Defense, has been celebrating Dussehra with soldiers in Siachen. Sitharaman celebrated the festival on 30 September 2017 with the soldiers at the frontiers of Siachen and Ladakh. At the same time, he also inaugurated a bridge linking Leh to Karakoram. For the first time in 2014, Narendra Modi, who became the Prime Minister, also celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Siachen.
