PM Modi visits bengal odisha to take stock of cyclone amphan devastation today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Delhi from West Bengal to take stock of the situation in the wake of the storm. He will conduct an aerial survey today and participate in the review meeting. After this, PM Modi will also go to Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on a tour after about 83 days (about 3 months). Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s last visit was on 29 February 2020 at Prayagraj and Chitrakoot in UP.

Prime Minister Modi will review the devastation and damage caused by Cyclone Emphon in these states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas of both states and participate in review meetings. 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Thursday appealed to Prime Minister Modi to visit the state, after which PMO sources informed about PM Modi’s visit on Friday. A fund of Rs 1,000 crore has been created for the restoration work for the affected areas, 72 people have died in the state due to the storm. They have announced a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to the families of the deceased. 

PM Modi will conduct a special survey with Banerjee and conduct an aerial survey of the North 24 and South 24 Parganas districts and assess the damage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also go to Odisha after West Bengal. According to sources, he will conduct an aerial survey with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at around 1.30 pm due to the devastation caused by cyclone Emphon in the state.

Meanwhile, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director General SN Pradhan said on Thursday that a team from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) would visit the states (Odisha and West Bengal) to evaluate the damage done by the cyclonic orphans.
