Parliament proceedings will start again after Holi today. Today the Parliament is expected to create uproar over the Delhi violence. Congress’s Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary and BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi today demanded a discussion on ‘law and order situation in parts of Delhi’ in the Lok Sabha. Apart from this, Trinamool Congress has given notice in Rajya Sabha for immediate discussion under Rule 267 on ‘Delhi Violence and Treatment Procedure’.

The opposition is demanding a discussion in both houses of parliament on communal violence in Delhi between 23 February and 26 February in which at least 53 people were killed while more than 200 people were seriously injured and property worth crores was destroyed. The government has agreed to hold discussions after Holi on returning to normalcy.

Delhi Police has registered 254 FIRs including 41 cases under the Arms Act in relation to violence. 903 people have either been arrested or detained by the police. Two Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been formed under the Crime Branch of Delhi Police to investigate the violence.
