To overcome the shortage of teachers in Bihar, the government will soon start the process of appointing teachers. Education Department will reinstate 32 thousand vacant posts of teachers in secondary and higher secondary schools. Under this, the final publication of merit list of candidates will be done on June 14. An Education Department official said that out of 32 thousand posts, 12 thousand teachers will be appointed in the first phase this month, whereas, in the second phase, 20 thousand teachers will be appointed in July-August.

According to the official, in the fifth phase, the candidates who have passed in the state teacher eligibility examination (STET) in the past will be given priority in the appointment. After the posting, the STET will be held again for the vacant posts.

After completing other procedures in the fifth phase, after the counseling of the candidates by the planning unit at the district level on 28 and 29 June, they will be given an appointment letter. Before this, it will be mandatory for the selected teachers to submit the original certificate of the teacher eligibility examination to the concerned planning unit.

It is to be mentioned that a total of 17 thousand teachers were to be restored and they were to be completed by September 2017. Even before the completion of the appointment process, the order came on October 31, 2017, to the Patna High Court’s ‘Equal Work Equal Salary’, after which the process of recruitment was stopped. By that time 5,000 teachers were appointed. From now on, the appointment for 12 thousand posts will start. It is worth mentioning that the order of the Supreme Court has come on May 10 this year on equal work-scale salaries.
