Nagpur T20: Series decided today, Team India’s credibility at stake
In the third and final T20 match against Bangladesh today or Sunday, the Indian team will have their eyes on winning the first T20 series on home soil this year.
In the third and final T20 match against Bangladesh today or Sunday, the Indian team will have their eyes on winning the first T20 series on home soil this year. In the absence of some other senior players, including captain Virat Kohli, the Indian team would like to identify the core players for the T20 World Cup to be played next year, with the name of the series.
In the first two games of the series, however, there was no gain in this case except for the successful return of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to the team. Chahal once again proved that he has the ability to take wickets in the middle overs. In the second T20 played in Rajkot, Chahal led Indian bowlers to restrict Bangladesh to 153 for six. Then the perfect cancer was completed by playing 85 runs in captain Rohit Sharma.
Washington Sundar, who was selected in the team in place of Chinamach bowler Kuldeep Yadav, was quite economical but left behind Chahal in the matter of wickets. Fast bowler Khalil Ahmed scored runs in both the matches which could give Shardul Thakur a place in the final 11, who can share the new ball with Deepak Chahar.
Will there be a change in Team India?
Rohit did not make any changes in the team of the first two T20 matches, due to which players like Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, and Rahul Chahar remained sitting in the drenching room. If they do not get a chance in Nagpur, they will have to wait for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies to prove themselves.
Even when the senior players return to the team, India will have to work hard to make a team combination, especially in the batting department where the team has a shortage of big shot players like Australia and England. Shreyas Iyer has proved himself in a short time while Lokesh Rahul has so far failed to make an impact. The new all-rounder Shivam Dubey will also have to do justice to his talent.
Veteran Shikhar Dhawan and young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant are also struggling to retain a place in the team along with new players in the Indian team. Dhawan is facing criticism for his poor performance with the bat while Pant is also behind the wicket with the bat. On Sunday, both players will have a chance to silence the critics.
Bangladesh can surprise
The Indian team will be a contender for victory, but in the absence of senior players like Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh can once again surprise the likes of Delhi. The team got a good start in the second T20 in Rajkot but they could not take advantage of it and the team could score only 153 runs in 20 overs.
Aminul Islam, a 20-year-old leg-spinner for Bangladesh, has impressed with his performance. He took four wickets while being economical. However, Bangladesh will have to improve their pace bowling, especially the team’s main bowler Mustafizur Rahman has failed to bother the Indian batsmen.
