Let me tell you that the nomination of Mohammad Azharuddin was canceled by the Election Officer two years ago as he was unable to produce evidence to remove the ban imposed by the BCCI for his alleged involvement in match-fixing.
Mohammad Azharuddin has played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs for India. During this time, he scored 6215 runs in Tests and 9378 runs in ODIs. He also led India in 47 Tests and 174 ODIs. Azharuddin has a world record of three centuries in three consecutive Test matches while making his debut.
Azharuddin was accused of match-fixing in 2000, after which the BCCI banned him for playing cricket for his lifetime. However, on 8 November 2012, the Andhra Pradesh High Court rejected the life ban on Azhar.
Born in Hyderabad, Mohammad Azharuddin knocked in international cricket in 1984. Azhar played his first Test match against England on 31 December 1984. He was called the magician of the wrists for his brilliant batting style.
Azharuddin captained India in 47 Test matches as a captain. He is currently fourth on the list of India’s most successful captains, winning 14 Tests. Virat Kohli 28, Mahendra Singh Dhoni 27, Sourav Ganguly are in first, second and third position with 21 wins respectively.
