After discussing with Trump Modi said that Discussion was done on these 4 issues along with 5G

During the meeting with US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Trump’s congratulations on his victory and thanked him.

During the meeting with US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Trump’s congratulations on his victory and thanked him. During the meeting with Trump, PM Modi mentioned four issues, which will be discussed with the US.

PM Modi said that you congratulated the victory, you have a love for India and I am grateful for that. The four topics that I would like to discuss in the range of time are Iran, 5G, bilateral and defense relations.

After US-India bilateral talks, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said that the S-400 issue was not discussed. Initially, it was on the point of focusing on Iran that how we ensure stability there because volatility affects us in many ways, not only in the matter of energy needs but also in the Gulf, there are large-scale migrant Indians.

Foreign Secretary pointed out at the US-India-Japan trilateral dialogue that the main issue in it was Indo-Pacific. The discussion also took place on how to promote connectivity between the three countries and how to strengthen the infrastructure. In addition, there was the talk of working together in the context of ensuring peace and security.

Significantly, the big issue is the purchase of oil with Iran. With the latest tension, the US has imposed new sanctions on Iran, and its direct impact is on India. India is the largest supply of oil from Iran. During the previous sanctions, Iran has paid oil in rupees, but this time the US has stuck on sanctions. Although the US has assured India that the supply of oil will not be reduced.

Nonetheless, the trade war has also become a new impediment to the path of India-US relations. Just before arriving in the G20 meeting, the US President has expressed his intention on this issue. Indeed, the tension about the trade between the two countries began to emerge last year when a tax on imports from both sides was increased. In March 2018, the US introduced 25 percent and 10 percent customs duty on steel and aluminum coming from India.

In response, on June 21, 2018, India increased custom duty on 28 items coming from the US. However, after the US objection, custom duty on Harley Davidson motorcycles was reduced from 100 percent to 50 percent.
