Overseas Indians living in America have given broad support to the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
WASHINGTON: Overseas Indians living in America have given broad support to the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Apart from this, he gave almost the entire number to the Ministry of External Affairs for settling their problems. According to a survey conducted by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) in the US-based public and international policy forum, 93.9 percent of the overseas Indians living in the US supported the re-election of Modi as the Prime Minister.
External Affairs Ministry chooses the most done
In the Opinion Poll conducted earlier this month, questions related to the performance of the government led by Modi in various programs, aspects, and matters were asked. It was found in the survey that the Overseas Indians voted the highest (95.5%) of the Foreign Ministry’s performance in settling their problems. 92 percent of the overseas Indians believe that India is now more respected than before 2014. Apart from this, 93 percent of Indians believe that the Modi Government has done better work in many infrastructure projects like roads, railways, river transport, and electrification.
80 percent said that the government is making better India
NDA government has taken several steps to overcome problems of migrant Indian communities including visa and passport related problems in the last 5 years. The time is taken for visa and passport issuance by the Indian Consulate has reduced considerably in the last 5 years. According to the survey, more than 80 percent of Indians think that the government’s plans are for the betterment of India. Of these, clean India got the highest support (86.9 percent).
Make-in-India got comprehensive support
after clean India, the highest support made in India (84.6 percent). After this, Digital India got the support of 84.3% and Start-up India got 71% people. 92 percent of the Overseas Indians supported it for the government’s way of dealing with terrorism. According to the survey, only 63.3 percent of the overseas Indians think that the Ramjanmabhoomi and Sabarimala cases were important for the 2019 general elections. (Language)
