KL Rahul should work on his flaws’, former captain gave important advice
The ex-Indian team captain Mohammad Azharuddin claims that KL Rahul should keep working on his specific shortcomings with team coaches. The 57-year-old Azhar is frustrated that a gifted batsman like KL Rahul needs help understanding his full capabilities.
Conversing with PTI, Azharuddin states, ‘I think consistency is a significant issue in KL Rahul’s case. However, I accept that mentors need to deal with their flaws. He is a decent player, yet he needs consistency in his game. Rahul has not performed unequivocally after his comeback to global cricket. He was excused for 39 runs in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
Azhar states, ‘Both Rohit-Virat are brilliant and class players. Right off the bat, he was losing his wicket on terrible balls. The selection of shots caused his problems. Azharuddin accepts that all senior players should take time and play domestic cricket. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did well in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, and Azhar accepts that the two of them will be core members of India in this year’s world cup.
Azharuddin claims, ‘Both Rohit-Virat are brilliant and class players. He has performed splendidly in the past too. His records tell everything. I accept Rohit and Virat will actually do well in this year’s world Cup. Both have done reliably well in the ODI format. Azharuddin has upheld Hardik Pandya to be the skipper in the T20 format. He stated, ‘Hardik Pandya looked great as a pioneer and appeared to know how to take the group along. Yet, he should be cautious with his back, which has kept him out for quite a while. India will need Hardik, and we would rather not risk his physical issue. Hardik has a youthful team, and this is the mantra to push ahead.
