The militant counter-insurgency operations of the army are still going on in Kashmir in the wake of the Corona epidemic. Three militants of al-Badr were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Imam Sahib area of ​​Kanjigam in south Kashmir district of Shopian in the early hours of today, while one militant surrendered. The terrorist who handed himself over to the army has been identified as Tausif Ahmed. He recently joined al-Badr.

According to the information received from the police, the security forces started the siege of the area around 1 am, after the reported presence of three to four militants in Imam Sahib area of ​​Shopian. 44 RR, CRPF and SOG personnel of Jammu were involved in the operation. After reaching Imam Sahib, the security forces started moving closer to the house where the terrorists were hiding. As soon as the terrorists saw the security forces coming close to them, they started firing.

After the siege, security forces asked the militants to surrender. The terrorists responded with a grenade attack. It is a mistake that no security personnel were harmed in this attack. After this, firing started from both sides. During the encounter, the security forces evacuated the people present in the surrounding houses. When the security forces came to know that all the terrorists are local and there is a new one, they once again asked everyone to surrender. Police sources said that the number of times the security forces asked the militants to surrender, they responded only by firing.

Three terrorists were piled by security forces one after the other. During this time, the fourth terrorist who joined the organization recently, expressed their willingness to surrender. The security forces asked him to leave his weapon and get out of the house. He left his weapon at the site of the encounter and came out and handed himself over to the army. The terrorist has been identified as Tausif Ahmed. He is a resident of Cajapora Rebon. The army has handed him over to the police. The search operation of the army is going on due to the presence of more terrorists in the area. At the same time, the bodies of the other three terrorists and a large amount of arms ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, confirming the killing of three of al-Badr’s militants and surrendering one, said that the operation would be terminated as soon as the search operation was completed.
