Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have both been handed 24-day suspensions by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) following their fight in Arlington. The suspension comes as part of the TDLR’s mandatory guidelines, which require fighters to rest for at least three days per round fought. Since the bout lasted eight rounds, both fighters are sidelined for the minimum suspension period of 24 days.

In addition to Paul and Tyson, other fighters from the event will also be temporarily banned from competition. Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor, who fought a highly competitive bout that went the full distance, are both suspended for 45 days after Taylor secured a unanimous decision victory.

Paul vs. Tyson: A Lackluster Main Event

The main event, a highly anticipated clash between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, left fans with mixed feelings. While Tyson initially showed signs of life with a brief flurry of punches early in the fight, it became apparent that his stamina quickly diminished. The 58-year-old Tyson appeared to tire after the early exchanges, with Paul capitalizing on his opponent’s lack of endurance.

The fight ended after eight rounds, with Paul winning by unanimous decision. Despite the lack of fireworks in the ring, Paul showed respect for Tyson after the fight, bowing to him in the final moments of the last round. Speaking to his fans afterward, Paul apologized for not delivering on his promise to knock Tyson out, despite having the opportunity.

“I’m sorry I didn’t knock him out,” Paul said. “I did the respectful thing by not knocking down the 58-year-old legend. After I saw him tire, I didn’t want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience.” Paul also admitted to holding back at times, saying, “There was a point where my aggression and violence went away when I wasn’t getting hit. I love Mike.”

A Different Experience for Paul

Paul also reflected on the unique experience of fighting Tyson, explaining that it felt different compared to his previous bouts. He noted that being in a larger stadium helped him stay calm and focused. “Fighting in a stadium is less personal and less loud, so it’s less nerve-racking. Arenas are harder to fight in. I was cool, calm, and collected during the walkout.”

The 27-year-old also discussed how he adjusted his strategy as the fight progressed. “In the first round, I was gauging his speed and timing. Once I figured that out, I was able to tag him and touch him up. After that, it was just about out-boxing him and having fun,” Paul explained.

Paul’s Future in Boxing

With over 100 million viewers tuning in to watch the fight, Jake Paul has proven himself to be a major draw in the sport of boxing. Now, with his win over Tyson under his belt, Paul believes he is ready to face some of the biggest names in the sport.

“I truly believe I can be a champion in the next 24 months,” Paul said. “I believe in my skills, my power, and my ability to compete at a high level. The cruiserweight division is wide open, and I think I could take it by storm in that timeline.”

While his victory over Tyson was far from the explosive knockout fans had hoped for, Paul’s confidence in his future prospects remains high, and he is looking forward to taking on even bigger challenges in the years to come.
