Jail tourism to begin in Maharashtra from January 26
It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray from Yerwada Jail in Pune on 26 January.

The Home Minister told reporters in Nagpur that the jails of Maharashtra have played an important place in the freedom struggle. The leaders involved in the freedom struggle were kept prisoner in various jails of Thane, Nashik, Yerwada, Ratnagiri, Dhule, etc.

Similarly, Ajmal Kasab, who carried out the terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26 January 2008, was hanged in the same jail. The younger generation of the country wants to visit these jails, they want to see. For this reason, the state government has decided to start jail tourism.
For this, interested people will be required to get permission from the jail administration. Those who will be allowed for jail tours will be prohibited from doing photography and videography inside the jail. Full security arrangements will be made during the jail tours.
