It is necessary to unite to challenge China: Former Prime Minister of Australia
Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said in a BBC program that governments in Western countries should not be afraid to challenge China on issues such as human rights.
However, he also said that it can prove dangerous for Western countries to challenge China alone, so they should unite and face China.
“The rest of the countries should either be vigilant about China’s growing economic, political and geographical dominance or be prepared to take the risk of being isolated and punished by China,” Rudd said.
Countries around the world are facing changes in the geographical and political system due to the dominance of China.
The former Australian Prime Minister said in the BBC’s Talking Business Asia program, “If you have a disagreement with China (which is currently in many countries of the world), then it would be better for you to come together against it. It is better than facing China alone because it becomes easier for China to dominate in bilateral matters.
Kevin Rudd has said these things at a time when the relationship between China and Australia has been tense over the past few years. There is bitterness between the two countries not only on the economic but also diplomatic level.
After this, when Australia talked about an investigation to find out the origin of the coronavirus, there was tension between the two countries on this issue as well.
China responded to this by banning products imported from Australia such as wine, beef, lobster, and barley.
Not only this, but China has also canceled major economic talks between the two countries in Canberra, which clearly shows that no high-level talks are going on to reduce this tension.
