America reiterates, Iran behind Saudi Arabia's attack on oil bases

Apart from satellite photos, America has also claimed to have intelligence in this regard.

Iran has categorically denied any involvement in the airstrikes on Saudi oil bases on Saturday. The Iran-backed Houthi rebels of Yemen were previously believed to be responsible for this attack.

After this attack, there has been a decrease of five percent in the world oil supply and a significant increase in the prices of petroleum oil.

What is America saying?

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused Iran of this attack last week without any evidence.

After this, on Sunday, US President Donald Trump tweeted in which he did not name Iran but said that military action will be taken against the attacker.

US officials are secretly speaking with the New York Times, ABC and Reuters.

An official has told the media that this attack has taken place from the western-north-western direction, this is not the area of Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Houthi-controlled area is located in the southwest of Saudi oil bases.

The New York Times newspaper quoted US officials as saying that both drones and cruise missiles were deployed for the attack, but not all of them were able to target Aqiq and Khoras oil targets.

ABC has quoted a senior US official as saying that Trump is fully aware of Iran’s hand behind the attack.

Effect on the oil market?

Petroleum oil prices are increasing. This is the first time since the Gulf War of 1991 when the price of petroleum oil has seen such a huge increase in just one day – the price of crude oil has risen by 10 percent to $ 66.28 per barrel.

However, when the US President has ordered the release of the US Reserve, there has been a slight decrease in prices.

But it is feared that if the tension increases, the prices of petroleum oil will also increase. BBC Business Correspondent Katie Prescott said it would be too early to make any kind of prediction about the impact on oil prices.

What has been Iran’s reaction?

There has been no response from Iran so far on the latest US allegations.

But Iran’s Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif had tweeted on Sunday that when US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo failed to formulate a strategy of maximum pressure, he is adopting a strategy of maximum defection.

The Trump administration’s stated policy is to create ‘maximum pressure’ on Iran. The US has adopted this policy after Iran’s nuclear programs broke from the international agreement.
