IPL: Rajasthan will have to be put on the Earth-peak of Delhi
Rajasthan Royals, who had lost the last ball despite skipper Sanju Samson’s brilliant century in their first match, had to keep their hopes of Delhi openers Prithvi Shaw and their IPL match against Delhi Capitals on Thursday. Shikhar Dhawan will have to be curbed.
Rajasthan had a good chance to win the match against Punjab Kings but captain Samson could not hit the winning six off the last ball of the innings and be caught near the boundary. Samson had a brilliant inning of 119 runs in this match, which was the biggest innings of any batsman as captain, but his innings could not win the team.
Delhi easily defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in their first match. In this victory of Delhi, Prithvi and Shikhar had a tremendous opening partnership of 138 runs for the first wicket. Prithvi scored 72 runs and Shikhar scored 85 runs in this match. If Rajasthan has to stop Delhi’s rising footsteps, then it will have to control this opening pair of Delhi.
Rajasthan has one more problem. His star all-rounder Ben Stokes of England has been ruled out of the tournament due to a fracture in his finger and Rajasthan will now have to find a player with Stokes ability.
Rajasthan had finished eighth and last in the previous season and the team would not like to see anything like this time. On the other hand, Delhi, the previous runners-up, will go into this match with the same winning team that washed away Chennai in the first match. Everything is fine with Delhi so far and this team seems determined to get a second win.
