Investment in Gold: These five ways of investing gold are popular, know what is the benefit deal for you

Read Time:3 Minute, 22 Second

Global production is steadily declining, with the Kovid-19 epidemic disrupting global markets. After this the returns from most asset classes are reduced. Investors concerned with the market scenario are turning to gold, which always emerges as a stable value store in times of crisis, especially when other asset classes are volatile.

Why should you invest in gold?

Gold has all the qualities that a traditional investor sees in an asset class. For example:

Returns: Many times gold prices have been seen to fall, but it always rebounds strongly, even outpacing outperforming bonds and stocks at times.

Liquidity: You can easily convert investment in gold into cash if needed.

Lack of correlation: Gold is known to perform differently from other asset classes such as stocks and bonds. When they go down, gold can go up.

Having a low correlation with other assets, gold acts as an excellent portfolio diversifier, which reduces losses during adverse market conditions. The value of gold also lies in its qualities to beat inflation. In times of economic recession, governments increase their power to print unlimited money. If there is excessive money in the economy, then inflation occurs, reducing the value of money in people’s pockets and assets. At the same time, the price of gold increases in that period. If you have made up your mind about investing in gold, here are five ways:

Investment in physical gold

One can buy gold physically in the form of gold coins, bars and jewelry. Although Indians love gold ornaments, the things to consider before shopping are safety, insurance costs and old designs. Making Charges, which range from 6% to 25% of the cost of gold in India. On the other hand, gold coins can be purchased from jewelers, e-commerce websites, non-banking financial companies and the government. The Government of India has launched Swadeshi Minted Coins, in which the image of Ashoka Chakra on one side and Mahatma Gandhi on the other hand has been etched.

Exchange Traded Funds

The best way to invest in paper gold is to buy a Gold ETF. Since investing in ETFs does not involve high initial purchase, insurance and even cost of sales, it is highly cost-effective. In order to invest in ETFs, people need a trading account from an online stockbroker and a demat account. Once an account is created, it is just a matter of choosing gold ETFs and placing orders from the broker’s trading portal.

Investment in GAP (Gold Accumulation Plan)

Gold can also be purchased online through mobile wallets such as Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, under the Gold Rush Plan of Stock Holding Corporation of India. These options for purchasing ‘Digital Gold’ are offered in collaboration with either MMTC-PAMP or SafeGold or both. Digital gold can be redeemed as physical gold or resold to the seller.

Investment in SGB (Sovereign Gold Bonds)

This is another way of investing in paper gold. The government issues SGBs, which are available to purchase at certain intervals every few months and are tax-free upon redemption. The Government of India has launched the Gold Monetization Scheme on 5 November 2015 to give the public a way to earn interest on gold lying idle in bank lockers.

Investment in gold futures

Investing in gold futures is actually an estimate of the price of gold and the purpose of investing in it is to profit from price volatility. If gold moves in the expected direction, one can earn money very quickly in the futures market. But, if it does not, then they can lose money in a very short time.

Gold ensures the security, liquidity and profitability of one’s investment. Due to the slowdown in global production growth among Kovid-19, uncertainty is increasing. Other asset classes lack investor confidence. It is not difficult to see that people are not buying anything but becoming gold bugs.
