Most of the world’s 27.2 million migrants live in Europe and North America. During the last ten years, their number has increased by 23 percent. The special thing is that among the countries where most people have settled abroad, India comes first. 18 million people live in other countries. After that comes the number of Mexico, with 12 million people and 11 million people from China living abroad.
This information is given in the United Nations report released on Tuesday. The report states that in 2019 there are 8.2 million migrants in Europe and 5.9 million in North America. This is followed by North Africa and West Asia, where 49 million people live in each region. According to a report prepared by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, there were 5.1 crore more migrants in the world in 2019 than in 2010.
The total number of migrants today is 3.5 percent of the world’s population compared to 2.8 percent in 2000. According to the United Nations, half of the world’s migrants live in only 10 countries. The United States has the largest population of 5.1 million expatriates. This is followed by Germany and Saudi Arabia, where 13 million expatriates live. Russia 12 million, UK 10 million, UAE 90 million, France, Canada and Australia 80 million while Italy has 60 people.
