India vs West Indies 2nd ODI: India defeated West Indies by 59 runs in ODI match played at Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain Trinidad.

India has won the second ODI match from the West Indies by 59 runs (D / L method). At Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, the Caribbean team was reduced to 210 runs in 42 overs, chasing a revised target of 270 runs in 46 overs. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 4 wickets from Team India, while Kuldeep Yadav and Mo. Shami got 2–2 successes. Centurion Virat Kohli was the man of the match. Batting first after winning the toss, India scored 279/7 in the prescribed 50 overs. With this, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The first match was inconclusive. The third and last ODI of the series will be played on 14 August.

Bhuvneshwar dismissed Puran for a total score of 179 and then on this score, Roston Chase showed the way to the Pavilions and decided to defeat the Windies. Puran scored 42 runs from 52 balls. Chase contributed 18 runs.

One run later, Ravindra Jadeja took India closer to victory with the wicket of Carlos Brathwaite (0). Two runs later, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Kemar Roach (0) and dropped the eighth wicket of the hosts.

Ultimately, Mohammed Shami got India to victory by dismissing Sheldon Cottrell (17) and Oshane Thomas (0) on the third and last ball of the 42nd over. At the other end, captain Jason Holder returned unbeaten after scoring 13 runs.

Shreyas Iyer scored 71 runs off 68 balls with the help of five fours and a six. Apart from him, Rishabh Pant scored 20 and Rohit Sharma scored 18 runs. For the West Indies, Carlos Brathwaite took three wickets and Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase, and captain Jason Holder took one wicket each.

With the help of world number one batsman and captain Virat Kohli (120), the 42nd century of his career, India set a challenging target of 280 runs to win in front of the West Indies. India won the toss, batting first and scored a strong 279 runs for seven wickets.

The start of the innings started badly for the Indian team and Shikhar Dhawan (2) was already walking on the third ball of the over. After this, Kohli shared 74 runs for the second wicket with Rohit Sharma (18) to get India out of the crisis.

After Rohit’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant (20) was also dismissed as the third batsman on the team’s total score of 101. From here, Kohli and Shreyas Iyer (71) took a century partnership of 125 runs for the fourth wicket and took the team to 200.

Kohli was dismissed as the fourth batsman on the team score of 226. He hit 14 fours and a six in a century of 125 balls. This is Kohli’s eighth-century against the West Indies. Apart from this, this is his 20th century as a captain.

After Kohli’s dismissal, the game was halted for some time due to rain. When the game resumed, Iyer again became a victim of Captain Jason Holder. He hit five fours and six off 68 balls and completed the third half-century of his career.

Kedar Jadhav contributed 16 runs with the help of two fours on 14 balls and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 16 not out with the help of fours in 16 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored one and Mohammad Shami scored three not out. For the West Indies, Carlos Brathwaite took three wickets and Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase, and captain Jason Holder took one wicket each.
