India has suffered more than Rs 10 lakh crore due to rising temperature!

One of the hallmarks of how indifferent we are to nature is the increasing temperature of the earth. Even a small increase in temperature can be harmful for an ordinary person. But now the G20 report card has revealed its very shocking facts. According to this, India has suffered more than Rs 10 lakh crore ($ 14009 million = 1040308 crore) between 1999-2018 due to the rising temperature. If it is estimated on the country’s GDP, then it is about .26 percent. These losses are more than the annual budget of almost all the states of India.

G20 report card

In this report card of G20, India is third after America. After this, the loss to China is more than 26 lakh crores. At the same time, Australia, which is at number four, has been reported to have lost more than 18 lakh crores, Mexico more than 22 lakh crores. On the other hand, this loss is more than 38 lakh crore rupees, which is about .35 percent of its total GDP. The annual average death rate per million people in India has been 2925 due to rising temperatures between 1999-2018. At the same time, it was 2939 in Russia, 1122 in France, There have been 997 in Italy and 537 in Germany. According to this report, worldwide carbon emissions have decreased significantly this year. The reason for this has been the lockdown implemented under the global pandemic Covid-19. Due to this, many countries have made various announcements to recover the decline in the economy of countries all over the world. Given this, the reduction in carbon emissions will be sustained next time, it is very difficult to say.

India is second in loss and third in deaths.

The Climate Transparency Report 2020, which was revealed during the meeting of the G-20 countries, states that during these twenty years, the temperature of the earth has increased due to about 2.2 lakh people all over the world. Talking about India, while we are third in the loss due to it, we are second in terms of deaths. The Paris Agreement in 2015 urged all countries to work together to reduce the rising temperature. It aims to reduce the temperature by 2 degrees. India has made a lot of efforts in this regard. China has decided to completely stop the use of coal to eliminate carbon emissions by 2060. Talking about India, we are getting closer to achieving the target set in 2005. Under this, carbon emissions have to be reduced by 35 percent.

Wind of changes

Let me also tell you here that India is working on various options for energy. This includes maximizing the use of solar and wind energy. People are also being made aware for this. At the same time, India is slowly moving towards electronic vehicles to avoid the loss due to diesel-petrol. There has also been a decrease in wood, dung and coal used as fuel for cooking in rural areas. The government has made the gas connection in these areas accessible to a large extent in view of the loss from it. Its benefit is also visible.

America’s displeasure

The US pulled out of the Paris Agreement in 2015. The American President said that he was suffering the most from this. On the other hand, countries like India are taking advantage of this. He also said that the United States has the most financial support for this, so it cannot afford it.
