Chasing the target, the West Indies team scored 45 runs at the loss of 2 wickets till the end of the third day’s play. Now on the fourth day, India will need 8 wickets to win.

India screws on Jamaica Test, need 8 wickets to win

The second and last test match of the two-match Test series between India and West Indies is being played at the Sabina Park ground in Kingston (Jamaica). Batting first in this match, Team India scored a big score of 416 runs in the first innings thanks to the century of Hanuma Vihari (111 *) and the half-centuries of captain Virat Kohli (76) and Ishant Sharma (57). After this, on the basis of Bumrah’s fatal bowling, India stacked the West Indies team for 117 runs in the first innings.

On the basis of first innings, India achieved a lead of 299 runs. India did not follow the West Indies and decided to bat again. In the second innings, Team India declared the innings by scoring 168 runs for 4 wickets and set a target of 468 runs in front of the West Indies. Chasing the target, the West Indies team scored 45 runs at the loss of 2 wickets till the end of the third day’s play. Shamarh  Brooks  (4 runs) and  Darren Bravo  (18 runs) are at the crease. Now on the fourth day, India will need 8 wickets to win.

West Indies opener Craig Brathwaite got India first success by getting Ishant Sharma caught by Rishabh Pant. Craig Brathwaite returned to the pavilion after scoring just three runs. Mohammed Shami gave the second success to Team India by getting John Campbell caught by skipper Kohli in the slip. John Campbell returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs.

Rahane-Vihari shines in India’s second innings 

In the second innings, vice-captains Ajinkya Rahane (64) and Hanuma Vihari (53) completed their fifties in a brilliant game. During this, there was also a century partnership of 111 runs between the two. Opener Mayank Agarwal opened the account with a four on Jason Holder but was LBW off Kemar Roach. Aggarwal resorted to Dias but had to return to the pavilion due to the umpires’ call in the TV replays.

After the early dismissal of Team India opener Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (6) spent time on the pitch, trying to form a partnership with Pujara, but Kemar Roach hit Rahul on the first ball of the 20th over of the innings. Caught behind the wicket gave India’s second blow. 

After Rahul’s dismissal, on the very next ball, Roach showed Team India captain Virat Kohli (0) the path of the pavilion without opening the account. After Rahul and Virat Kohli were dismissed early, Pujara tried to handle the innings with Rahane, but he was caught by Windies captain Jason Holder at a personal score of 27 to slip to  Brooks in the fourth blow to India.

West Indies piled on 117 runs in the first innings

The West Indies team collapsed for 117 runs in the first innings. On the basis of first innings, India achieved a lead of 299 runs. For West Indies, Shimron Hetmyer scored the highest 34 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum 6 wickets for India. At the same time, Mohammed Shami got two successes. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma got 1-1 wickets. Bumrah took the first hat-trick of his career. He became the third Indian to do so in Tests. Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan took a hat-trick.

Craig Brathwaite and John Campbell started the Windies innings. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made India the first success by getting Campbell caught behind Rishabh Pant on the fourth ball of the sixth over. Campbell was dismissed by scoring two runs. Jasprit Bumrah, while bowling deadly, took three wickets in three consecutive balls and completed his first hat-trick in Test cricket.

Bumrah completed his first hat-trick in Test cricket by returning Darren Bravo, Shamara Brooks and Roston Chase of the second, third and fourth balls of the eighth over of the Windies’ innings. The top order of the Windies was shattered by the havoc of Bumrah. After taking a hat-trick, Bumrah made a fifth success in the fifth ball of the 12th over, caught by Craig Brathwaite at the hands of wicketkeeper Pant, and gave India a fifth success and also completed his five wickets. Mohammed Shami took the important wicket of Shimron Hetmyer. After this Jaspreet Bumrah completed his 6 wickets, dismissing Jason Holder.

The Caribbean team suffered the eighth setback as Rahkim Cornwall (14). He was caught by fast bowler Mohammad Shami in the hands of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and sent to the pavilion. Wicket-keeper Jahamar Hamilton also could not stay long. Ishant was dismissed by Hamilton (5). Kemar Roach was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja and dismissed West Indies innings for 117 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum 6 wickets for India. At the same time, Mohammed Shami got two successes. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma got 1-1 wickets.

Bumrah’s hat – trick, West Indies were blown in a storm

Jasprit Bumrah took 6 wickets including a hat-trick in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah bowled deadly bowling, returning half of the Windies team to the pavilion in his six overs. It was Bumrah’s fifth 5 wicket hall in Tests. Bumrah took the first hat-trick of his career during this period. Bumrah became the third Indian bowler to do this feat in Tests. Before them, only Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan were able to take a hat-trick in the test. Bumrah first dismissed opener James Campbell in his third over. After this, in his fourth over, he completed his first hat-trick in Test cricket by returning Darren Bravo, Shamara Brooks and Roston Chase off consecutive balls.
