Virat Kohli’s failure

Indian captain Virat Kohli, while aiming for poor bowling after clearing 3-0 in the ODI series against New Zealand, said that there was lack of patience in the team. New Zealand beat India by 5 wickets in the third ODI and avenged the 0–5 defeat in the T20 International series by defeating the series 3–0.

After 31 years in the ODI series of the Indian team, the sweep has cleared. Kohli said at the prize distribution ceremony after the match, ‘We did not play as poorly as seen in the final result of the series. We failed to capitalize on the opportunities we got. Our efforts were not enough to win an international cricket match.

The Indian captain said, “With the ball we failed to take wickets at regular intervals. Our fielding was not good at all. We did not even play so bad, but when you fail to capitalize on the opportunity, then you are not entitled to victory.

He said, “The batsmen made a good comeback from tough conditions which is a positive sign, but the way we fielding and bowling was not enough.” The failure of Indian bowlers in the tournament can be gauged from the fact that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could not take a single wicket in the entire series and the Indian attack failed to cover the entire innings of New Zealand even once.

Kohli praised New Zealand, saying, ‘New Zealand played brilliantly. We were not entitled to victory because we did not show patience. Kohli, who is considered to be the axis of Indian batting, said that the team will compensate for this disappointment in the Test series starting on February 21.

He said, ‘I think every Test match has its own importance due to the Test Championship. In the Test, our team is very balanced and we think we can win the series. But for this, we have to get into the field with the right mindset.
