New Zealand captain Kane Williamson admitted that had the Indian team scored 50 runs, the situation would have been very challenging for us. New Zealand won the first Test played in Wellington by 10 wickets at the start of the fourth day of play, but they won the second Test by seven wickets on the third day of the match on Monday.

Williamson said at the press conference after the match, “It was a great performance, but as I said, this result does not show how competitive the match was.” If India had scored 50 more runs, it would have been a match.

Unlike the subcontinent, here was a match between the ball and bat from the pitch of both the test matches, where it was a bit difficult to score. He said, ‘In terms of pitch, the match between the ball and bat was a match in both matches and scoring was not easy. You wanted a bit of luck and try to put pressure on the bowler. The players of the team performed brilliantly in the last two matches.

Williamson, however, admitted that the pitch here was more suited to fast bowlers. He said, ‘I think both pitches were more helpful for fast bowlers. Even in such circumstances, the way we batted in the first innings and scored a competitive score in Wellington was fantastic to see.
