At the press conference for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024 held in Mumbai, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan once again proved his charm and wit. The event, which was a prelude to the grand IIFA ceremony scheduled for September 27 to September 29 at Yas Islands in Abu Dhabi, showcased SRK’s signature humor as he engaged in playful banter and offered high praise to his peers.

The press conference featured Shah Rukh Khan in high spirits as he took to the stage alongside co-host Karan Johar. Known for his quick wit, SRK did not miss the opportunity to tease Johar in a light-hearted manner. “Please come for the rehearsals, Karan,” SRK joked, referencing Johar’s reluctance to participate in preparation sessions. “He has told me he will not rehearse. He wants to do it on Zoom. Make some movies also, brother, how much will you host?” This humorous remark drew laughter from the audience, highlighting the camaraderie and ease between the two Bollywood stalwarts.

In addition to his playful jabs, Shah Rukh Khan took the time to acknowledge the work of fellow actors. He expressed his admiration for Abhishek Banerji, who is set to host IIFA Rocks along with Siddhant Chaturvedi. “Abhishek, it is so wonderful to see you after seeing your wonderful film (Stree 2). I have been wanting to call you,” SRK said, referring to Banerji’s performance in the much-acclaimed sequel. His compliment not only highlighted Banerji’s talent but also showcased SRK’s supportive nature towards his colleagues.

The press conference also saw Shah Rukh reflecting on his association with IIFA, sharing a humorous anecdote about his past involvement with the awards. “They have called me just once before. Now they invited me after a decade. I would have always loved to come, but unfortunately, IIFA was hosted at the times when I was shooting,” SRK quipped. His self-deprecating humor about missing previous events due to his busy shooting schedule added a personal touch to his interaction with the media.

In addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, the IIFA 2024 press conference included notable attendees like Rana Daggubati. Daggubati, who will be hosting IIFA Utsavam—a segment that celebrates South Indian cinema—shared a fond memory of SRK. He recalled how Shah Rukh Khan had once organized an impressive after-party for the entire film industry, underscoring the superstar’s generosity and his ability to bring people together.

This year’s IIFA Awards promises to be a star-studded affair, with several prominent celebrities set to make their presence felt. Rekha, one of Bollywood’s legendary actresses, will be attending the awards ceremony. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon are expected to deliver electrifying performances, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.

IIFA 2024, taking place at Yas Islands, Abu Dhabi, will span three days, from September 27 to September 29. The event is anticipated to be a grand celebration of cinema, showcasing both Bollywood and South Indian film industries. The dual hosting of IIFA and IIFA Utsavam reflects the awards’ commitment to honoring a diverse range of cinematic achievements.

As the countdown to IIFA 2024 continues, the press conference provided a glimpse into the vibrant and playful atmosphere of the event. With Shah Rukh Khan’s humor, Karan Johar’s hosting skills, and the inclusion of esteemed guests like Rekha and Rana Daggubati, this year’s IIFA is set to be a memorable occasion in the world of Indian cinema.
