If the temperature rise is not controlled, then this monkey will not survive
Washington, ANI Climate change is the biggest crisis facing the world in the present time. Because of this, many species of organisms are on the verge of extinction, including monkeys found in South America.
According to research published in Global Change Biology, if the increase in temperature in the earth is not controlled, then the existence of these monkeys will end.
During the study, the impact of temperature rise on 426 species of monkeys and langurs in the database of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) was detected.
Researchers found that in the next thirty years these species would be reduced to the natural habitat of monkeys living in tropical areas, especially in South America.
At the same time, they will have to face the highest temperature rise. In such a situation, their risk of extinction will also increase manifold.
Scientists also identified areas where monkeys will face the most problems due to temperature rise. In the coming years, the temperature of these areas is expected to increase by more than three degrees Celsius.
The researchers also said that if humans try to tamper with the monkeys’ natural habitats, then the effect of climate change on those species is more negative. Describing this study as the alarm bell in the future, researcher Dr. Joanna Carvalho has emphasized the need to take concrete steps at the earliest to deal with climate change.
