Gotabaya Rajapaksa To Take Oath Of President In Sri Lanka Today, Will Be The 8th President Of The Country
Gotabaya Rajapaksa will take oath of office in Sri Lanka today. He will be sworn in as the eighth president of Sri Lanka in the ancient Buddhist city of Anuradhapura on Monday. Gotabaya Rajapaksa won the election in the presidential election held on 16 November. As per the Daily Mirror report, Rajapaksa, who contested the presidency from Podujana Perumana (SLPP) of Sri Lanka, was declared victorious on Sunday (17 November).
His party SLPP said that the swearing-in ceremony would take place in the morning. Gota Baba Rajapaksa would go to Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruvanvelisia to seek blessings before the ceremony. SLPP and Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa, party president G.L. Peeris, national organizer Basil Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and other political leaders have been called to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
After the electoral victory, Gotabaya Rajapaksa had said, as we embark on a new journey to Sri Lanka, we should remember that all Sri Lankans are part of this visit. Grateful to, not only those who voted him, but as the President of all Sri Lankans.
